her sister's meltdown

The door behind Athenodora felt cold. Her heart was chilled with fear; fear for what was coming. She was not fooled,  she knows they were all in danger. That look in Caius' eyes betrayed what they were discussing earlier in the hushed halls. She is aware that a war will soon break out.

As she descended the ancient steps of this glorious castle, she fumbled for her blue diamond pendant. This habit of hers meant that she is deep in her thoughts. She thinks of the possible reason why those things happened earlier. Why now? Before she could brew another theory, she saw her sister at the last step of the majestic stairs.

"Athenodora," she whispered.

Gifted with supernatural hearing, Athenodora nodded to acknowledge her sister.

"Sulpicia, we have a problem." Athenodora replied sullenly.

If vampires could cry her sister would have sobbing by now. Sulpicia's long lashed eyes were marked with grief. In a split second, she embraced Athenodora. This a rare encounter with the two Mistresses whose regal ways kept them at bay from emotional outbursts. Athenodora hugged her sister tightly and told her that this too shall pass. After a minute or so, Sulpicia released Athenodora and regained her composure. She conjured her poker face which was a malicious smirk.

"Today was not something we have hoped for but it was quite an adventure, don't you think, Thena?" she asked.

"Indeed, sister,"  Athenodora replied. "And I am sure it will be our last one.' She sighed as she walked to the window by the hall. The rain was splattering on the multi-colored window panes. The weather has been taunting them for the past 2 hours.
